Een dikke motor, daar worden veel mannen wild van. Wie verder droomt dan een ‘normale’ motor komt al snel terecht bij een custom bike. Meestal een klassieke motor die de nodige upgrades heeft gekregen. Om even weg te zwijmelen bij deze motoren hebben we vijf ongekend dikke custom bikes voor je op een rijtje gezet.

Arjan Van Den Boom en zijn custom BMW R80

Als we het in Nederland over custom bikes hebben, schiet er waarschijnlijk één naam in je gedachte naar boven. Dat is die van Arjan Van Den Boom. Deze ‘custom bike pionier’ maakt voor zijn bedrijf (Ironwood Custom Motorcycles) de dikste motoren. Als we moeten kiezen, dan gaan we voor zijn BMW creaties, zoals deze zwart blauwe R80.

De Honda Nighthawk van Deus Ex Machina

Wanneer we het over custom bikes hebben is er ook één merk dat je sowieso niet kunt overslaan. Dat is Deus Ex Machina. Het Australische merk staat bekend om zijn vrijheidscultuur waarin motoren, surfboards en strakke kleding een grote rol spelen. Daarnaast kunnen ze ook enorm dikke aangepaste motoren bouwen zoals deze Honda CB uit 83-85 die nu is omgedoopt tot de Deus Nighthawk.

Wanneer je een meervoudige Dakar Rally winnaar bent, is het natuurlijk onmogelijk om geen custom bike in huis te hebben. Maar het kan natuurlijk nog dikker.
