Vier jaar Donald Trump in 35 controversiële tweets

In 2016 werd niet Hillary Clinton, maar Donald Trump tot ieders verbazing president van de Verenigde Staten. Hij werd de eerste president die officiële informatie deelde via Twitter. Hij communiceerde sowieso veel via dit (a)sociale medium. Zijn meest bizarre en controversiële tweets op een rij.

Waar een normale president, premier of koning zich geen misstap of controversiële uitspraak kan permitteren op social media, rijgt Donald Trump ze aaneen. Zijn fans vinden het geweldig, andere Amerikanen kunnen het na vier jaar echt niet meer aanzien dat een dergelijk iemand hun land bestuurt. Consequenties hebben zijn woorden in ieder geval niet gehad. Op de dag van de verkiezingen, waarin hij het opneemt tegen ‘sleepy’ Joe Biden, is het tijd om de balans op te maken.

Gisteren gooide Donald Trump er op de valreep nog maar eens een controversiële tweet eruit. Het hooggerechtshof van Pennsylvania verlengde de deadline voor het ontvangen van geldige stemmen per post, met de pandemie en vertragingen bij het Amerikaanse postbedrijf in het achterhoofd. De president noemde dat ‘ERG’ gevaarlijk en hintte naar stemfraude. Twitter heeft het bericht nu aangemerkt als misleidend. Hadden ze vaker kunnen doen, zoals je hieronder ziet.

1. Onrust zaaien over stemfraude
